Why am I running for SIB Commissioner Seat 3 in the coming election?

Big Government Costs Have Come to Sunny Isles Beach

Along with the previous Mayor, the current for commissioners including my opponent voted to increase the budget by almost 25%. Millions of dollars were added for unnecessary big government uses.

At the end of 2022, Jerry Joseph at Seat 1 and Fabiola Stuyvesant at Seat 3 voted to ballon the budget and double the size of the Sunny Islse Beach Government.

Instead of being fiscally responsible for our tax funds, they voted like the previous radical liberal mayor told them to.

Now they are up for election and are talking about the expenses they created. Their votes are on the record.

Let’s vote these taxes and spend self-interest politicians out this November.

Help to Create Smaller Government

Sunny Isles Beach plans to spend $1.9 million on social events (parties and perks), much more than Aventura and North Miami Beach, which are much larger.

How many residents attend Zumba and Yoga? It is time to reevaluate such extreme spending of taxpayer funds-like: like $ 190k party and $65K for commission dinners. For 2024, they voted to increase a signal party budget $50K more Total $250,000.

The city spends so much on parties it is hiring an Executive Assistant for Cultural and Community Services (CCS), costing us $ 89,216 with automatic increases. For 2024, two more employees are being considered for CCS.

Cutting Costs and Saving You Money

How the City Spends Your Money Irresponsibly

Two years ago, there was zero media department money spent. The budget today has $1,328,000 million allocated. Facebook, Twitter. IT IS CRAZY!

The Finance$$Dept. budget is $1.3 million. The same for media is unjustifiable.

I wrote letters to residents to expose the millions is waste.

Together, our voices pressured the commission to lower the millage rate. My and your efforts save us $5 Million.

Parks are Nice, but Expenses are Out of Control.

In the 2021/2022 budget, total park maintenance appropriations were $1,252,404 million. The 2022/2023 total appropriations were $2,788,954 million. The total appropriations in the 2023/2024 proposed budget are $4,768,255 million LOSS.

That is an almost 100% increase in one year while my opponent was a commissioner

Gateway Park has turned out to be a “White Elephant” and runs at a loss totaling $1,598,843 million a year.

There is Hundreds of Thousands that can be cut from Parks and the budget.

There is Taxpayer’s Cash burning a hole in the pocket of the commission and there are millions of future added expenses being considered right now.

Stop misuse of Government resources

  • The city commissioners have an advertising budget of $2500.
  • How do they justify the commission spending $2500 when they plan to pay an insane $1.3 million in media spending? Double-Dipping to Spend, Spend.
  • Maybe they think the thousands are unnoticed.
  • The city clerk has $16,200 for travel. Where does he go?
  • The city clerk having $20,000 for advertising is ridiculous and insulting.
  • The city manager has $10,000 to give away taxpayer money for contributions.
  • The city manager has $17,400 to travel and $1,000 for gas. Why?
There are hundreds of thousands of cash expenditures and perks in the budget.

As Your Sunny Isles Beach Commissioner for the Future

I will work with our Police Dept, and Community Leaders.

Allow my 40+ years of business experience and fourteen years as Poinciana Island’s President to work for us on the commission at Seat #3  and for Sunny Isles Beach.

I have been reelected by Poinciana Island owners for thirteen years in a row because I make promises and keep them. I have gained their trust and confidence to do what is right for us.

Trust is built over time, but at first, I need to ask you to take a leap of faith based on my years of business experience and my history of helping my neighbors at Poinciana Island.

I believe that I am your best choice to do what is best for us and Sunny Isles Beach at Seat 3.

I hope to earn your vote and be your voice on the Sunny Isles Beach Commission.

All the best,

Greg Capra
